Fubo, a sports-focused live TV streaming platform, is expanding its offering in Canada with the CHCH TV channel, which will feature original Canadian-produced local news and popular entertainment programming.
The streamer is expanding its programming after partnering with CHCH TV’s parent company, Channel Zero. According to the streamer, the launch of the channel underscores Fubo’s goal to expand its coverage of regional Canadian content and serve local communities.
“Local news is increasingly vital to serving communities and CHCH is a leader in providing regional coverage to millions of Canadians. Our agreement with Channel Zero allows us to provide Canadians even more of the content they care about,” said Ben Grad, senior VP of strategic partnerships and operations at Fubo.
With this launch, Fubo subscribers in Canada will be able to watch local news coverage from Hamilton to Niagara, along with TV shows and movies, from mobile devices, connected TVs or web browsers. The Fubo app is available on Amazon Fire TV, Android, GoogleTV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Hisense, iOS, LG TV, Roku and Samsung.
Launched in 1954, CHCH-TV is one of Canada’s few independent TV stations focused on local news in Ontario. It produces more than 24 hours of original local news programming each week from its broadcast studio located in Hamilton. Channel Zero is an independent Canadian media company that also owns specialty channels Rewind and Silver Screen Classics. The company’s digital sales agency, Junction Digital, offers advertisers marketing solutions on its proprietary websites and social media platforms.
