The latest AdEase report shows a change in the top spot, with McDonald’s surpassing Tim Hortons as the most active radio advertiser during the week of March 3 to 9.

McDonald’s secured a nationwide presence, ranking in all cities with a total of 6,430 occurrences. The QSR, which did not appear in the previous AdEase ranking, finished first in Ottawa, third in Quebec, sixth in Toronto, eighth in Edmonton and Montreal, ninth in Vancouver, and tenth in Calgary.

Subway, which was also absent in the previous list, landed as the second most active advertiser, with 5,945 total occurrences. BCE (Bell) trailed closely behind with 5,695 occurrences, marking a significant increase of 1,913 from the previous radio buying week. And rounding out the top five were Government of Canada, with 4,105 occurrences (down from last week), and Tim Hortons, with 4,026 occurrences (also down from last week).

McDonald’s also made a significant leap in Vancouver, advancing 321 positions, while Mazda achieved the largest gain in Montreal, climbing 330 spots. In Quebec, mattress brand Dormez-vous Sleep Centers emerged as the biggest mover, rising 263 positions.

QSRs, internet services, and grocery stores and supermarkets were the top buying groups.
