Financial services continue to dominate: Media Monitors

TD, PC Financial and RBC were among the top buyers in Toronto.

It was another big week for the financial services category in radio buying.

According to the Media Monitors report for Oct. 8 to 14, TD Bank was the top buyer in the Toronto market, up from #4 last week. The financial institution purchased a total of 709 spots. Not far behind was new list entrant PC Financial with 694 spots. TD Insurance stayed put at #3.

The next on the list was new entrant BMW X5, while last week’s top entrant RBC rounded out the top-five.

Also new to the top-10 was the Mercedes-Benz Dealers Association, which debuted at #9.

Unsurprisingly, the banks, credit unions, mortgage brokers and financial services category held onto the top spot in the market, with a slight increase in total spots over last week (4,535 up from 4,435). It had nearly twice as many spots as the car and truck dealer association category.

In Montreal, CTV was back on top, up one spot from #2. New entrants GM Certified Service and Nissan followed, while TD Bank held steady at #4. The list was rounded out by furniture retailer Brault and Martineau, up from #8.

Other new buyers in Montreal’s top-10 were Shoppers Drug Mart (#6), the Hyundai Dealers Association (#9) and Casino MontrĂ©al (#10).

For categories, the car and truck dealer association category took the top spot, nearly quadrupling its collective buy from last week with 994 total spots.
