RBC leads in Toronto, Montreal: Media Monitors

The financial institution was the top radio ad buyer in both Montreal and Toronto for the week of Nov. 12 to 18.

RBC Royal Bank was the top radio ad buyer in both Toronto and Montreal, according Media Monitors data from the week of Nov. 12 to 18.

The financial institution purchased 924 spots in Toronto, (down from from last week’s 1,413) and 393 in Montreal.

RBC was followed in Toronto by McDonald’s (up from #23 last week) which purchased 786 spots. OLG came in at #3 (purchasing 758 spots) followed by Canadian Tire with 737 spots and TD Bank with 623.

Oil brand Castrol came in at #6 with a play count of 602 after not making a buy last week.

For categories, cars and trucks, dealers association came in at #1 with 4,409 total spots in Toronto (up from 2,324 last week). The banks, credit unions, mortgage brokers and financial services came in at #2 with 2,800 spots (down from 3,862).

In Montreal, last week’s top radio ad buyer, the Mitsubishi Dealer Association, came in at #2 with a play count or 392. It was followed by Bell High Speed Internet, which kept the #3 spot for another week, Sunwing and RedTag.ca.

Volkswagen debuted at #10 in Montreal after not making a buy the previous week.

Cars and trucks, local dealers were also the top category buyer in Montreal with 908 total spots, a significant jump from 332 last week.
