Radio’s big spenders are relatively unchanged: Media Monitors

However, QSRs, automakers and the Real Canadian Superstore reported stronger radio buys.

The top five radio market listings stayed relatively flat week-over-week in Toronto, with Goodfood maintaining the top radio spot for the week of June 21 to June 27, according to the latest numbers from Media Monitors.

Categorically, QSRs made a big move, upping their spots in Toronto by over 60% this week over last, which translated into McDonald’s moving from ninth into sixth at the account level, and domestic automakers increased production significantly, with 1,237 spots for the week versus 595 the week prior.

The only other standout in the Toronto market was the Real Canadian Superstore, which jumped into seventh from outside the rankings, fuelled by radio support for its latest campaign.

In Montreal, the top four account rankings stayed static from the week before, with the provincial government maintaining its top spot. Mazda jumped into fifth from outside the rankings, reflected by Asian automakers investing heavily in the Montreal radio market, taking the top spot at the category level.
