Corus has picked Sheila Ritson-Bennett as head of environment and sustainability to lead work on the company’s ESG commitments.
In the newly created role, Ritson-Bennett will work with leaders across Corus to shape its environment, social and governance strategy across the company’s lines of business, as well as provide legal counsel on related matters.
Ritson-Bennett has over 15 years of experience in the ESG space. She is coming from BMO, which she joined as senior counsel on sustainability in May. Previously, she was senior manager of ESG risk management at TD, and prior to that had a lengthy career as counsel within Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.
She will report to Jennifer Lee, EVP and general counsel at Corus, who says Ritson-Bennett’s “extensive industry experience” will be useful in leading the important work of advancing its policies, strategy and integration of its sustainability commitments. The appointment is effective immediately.
