Thinktv’s Kathy Gardner announces her retirement

The organization's VP of media insights has had a major impact on measurement and data over her 38 years in the industry.

After a 38-year career in the media industry, Kathy Gardner, VP of media insights for Thinktv, has announced her retirement, effective Feb. 4.

Gardner joined Thinktv – then known as the Television Bureau of Canada – in that position in November 2015, just prior to its planned rebrand. She was tasked with the strategic direction and expansion of research and planning initiatives, and also served as the main point of contact between the organization and media agencies.

A selection committee will be formed to choose her successor over the coming weeks.

Before Thinktv, Gardner spent more than 13 years at Shaw Media as VP of strategic insights and research. She began her career in media on the agency side at agencies like McKim Advertising, J. Walter Thompson and Bates Canada.

She is also a former chair of the board at Numeris, and led the measurement body’s Metered Measurement committee that led to the selection of PPM.
