TSN signs broadcast rights for the National Women’s Soccer League

The league, which features Canadian national team players like Christine Sinclair, joins the network's growing roster of soccer broadcasts.

TSN has secured the broadcast rights for the National Women’s Soccer League, the top North American division of women’s soccer.

The network’s broadcasts begin with the season launch on March 26 and runs through the 2023 NWSL Championship. English-language coverage of the games will air on TSN and streaming service TSN+, with the full broadcast schedule to be announced next week. Highlights and news updates throughout the NWSL season will be available across Sportscentre, TSN.ca and TSN’s official social media accounts.

Length and other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The NWSL is entering its eleventh season. Though it doesn’t have a Canadian team, the league’s reigning champions, Portland Thorns FC, are led by Canadian striker Christine Sinclair, alongside her Women’s National Team teammate Janine Beckie. Sinclair captured her third championship with Portland last season.

Other Canadian national team players on NWSL clubs include Angel City FC’s Vanessa Gilles; Chicago Red Stars’ Bianca St-Georges; New York/New Jersey Gotham FC’s Victoria Pickett; Houston Dash’s Allysha Chapman, Nichelle Prince and Sophie Schmidt; Kansas City Current’s Desiree Scott; OL Reign’s Jordyn Huitema and Quinn; San Diego Wave FC’s Kailen Sheridan; and Washington Spirit’s Gabrielle Carle.

TSN also has the broadcast rights for the FIFA World Cup and MLS. The network also airs matches from Spanish league LaLiga and LaLiga2 on TSN+.
