CFL launches two free live streaming platforms

The services ensure all preseason and in-season games are accessible to all fans inside and outside of North America.

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has launched a pair of free live streaming platforms to ensure fans in and outside of Canada have access to every game in its upcoming season.

While TSN and RDS retain exclusive rights to three of the league’s preseason games, CFL Preseason Live will carry the remaining six games for all viewers, as well for viewing outside of Canada. The CFL will work together with the host club of each game to broadcast the in-stadium video feed, while play-by-play and analysis will be provided by local crews. Preseason games began on Monday.

CFL+, meanwhile, is geared towards international audiences. The service will stream all league games not being broadcast by CBS Sports Network in the U.S., as well as all regular season and playoff games for viewers outside of North America.

Both platforms are accessed for free by providing a verified email address. The streaming services will be available on desktop and mobile devices with no additional downloads or login services required.

The complete 2023 season broadcast schedule for TSN, RDS, CBS Sports Network and CFL+ will be announced prior to the season kicking off on June 8 when the BC Lions travel to McMahon Stadium to play the Calgary Stampeders.

In addition, ahead of the 2023 preseason, the CFL, in partnership with Genius Sports, has launched a new data and technology ecosystem to power enhanced insights and experiences for the CFL community.

The CFL LiveStats data collection system will capture official play-by-play updates on every CFL game. This official data is used to power live betting solutions, tracking and CFL Game Zone, including the new CFL Fantasy and CFL Pick ‘Em. This system is already used in international basketball and college sports through Genius Sports’ long-term partnerships with FIBA and the NCAA. The CFL will continue to roll out new features throughout the season, including historical play-by-play data and statistics for public consumption.
