The 2025 kicked off with Sleep Country being the most active advertiser on radio, according to AdEase’s report for the week of Dec 30 to Jan 5.

The retailer notched up 5,026 combined occurrences, landing second in Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto, while coming in third in Vancouver and fourth in Ottawa. The advertiser, however, decreased its spend from the previous radio buying week, when it recorded 5,463 total occurrences.

With 4,064 instances, London Drugs ranked as the second most active advertiser, followed by Walmart (2,926 occurrences), PC President’s Choice (2,811 occurrences) and Planet Fitness (2,206 occurrences). Compared to last week, London Drugs decreased its purchase, while Walmart and PC President’s Choice increased their spend.

Some of the advertisers that moved the most in the ranking were auto repair brand Budget Brake & Muffler Auto Center, which climbed 106 spots in Vancouver; McDonald’s, which was up 193 spots in Edmonton; and Sunwing Travel, rising 395 and 311 places in Ottawa and Montreal, respectively.

On the category front, pharmacies and drug stores, QSRs, mattress stores, and online travel agency were among the highest-spending groups.
