OMNI Television’s OMNI.2 channel is re-launching with fully-multicultural content to reflect the changing face of Ontario.
From Jan. 21, the ethnic-focused schedule will add 35 hours of new content, including original multilingual documentaries, exclusive Canadian coverage of the Indian Film Industry Awards and popular Bollywood programming.
The makeover to appeal more directly to Asian and south Asian communities will leave OMNI.2 as the only conventional TV station in Ontario with all ethnic-focused programming.
“OMNI Television has a legacy of being entrenched in the diverse communities throughout Canada and our strategy to program all ethnic content on OMNI.2 in Ontario reaffirms our commitment to serving Canada’s multilingual communities,” said Madeline Ziniak, national vice-president, OMNI Television in a statement Friday.
The new OMNI.2 schedule will include the regionally-focused multicultural newscasts OMNI News: Mandarin, Cantonese, South Asian and Punjabi.
The OMNI.2 schedule will also carry Shahs of Sunset, the U.S. reality series from Ryan Seacrest Productions, about six Persian socialites in Los Angeles.
