Bell Media renews TV deal with CFL

The new five-year multi-platform deal includes exclusive rights to all pre-season and regular season games, playoffs and the Grey Cup.

Bell Media’s TSN and RDS have renewed their multi-platform broadcast agreement with the Canadian Football League to 2018.

The current deal expires at the end of the 2013 season.

The new five-year extension gives TSN and RDS the exclusive rights to all CFL pre-season and regular season games, playoffs and the Grey Cup match-up.

The CFL regular season will also grow to 81 games in 2014 as an Ottawa franchise enters the league.

RDS also plans more games to air in French on RDS2.

TSN and RDS first became exclusive broadcasters of the CFL in 2008.

“The CFL is one of Canada’s leading sports properties and has been one of the main audience drivers on the TSN and RDS schedules,” said Phil King, president of CTV programming and sports, in a statement Thursday.
