CTV has ordered the two-hour special Canada in a Day to premiere in 2017 as part of its Canada 150 celebrations.

The special, from Vancouver’s Screen Siren Pictures, will be comprised solely of footage shot by Canadians across the country in a single day this year.

The filming date for the special, along with details on how to submit footage, will be announced at a later date. On the chosen filming day, Canadians will be asked to shoot and submit video, in any language, documenting that day of their life.

Canada in a Day is based on the Ridley and Tony Scott-executive produced film Life in a Day, which received more than 80,000 videos from around the world, all shot on July 24, 2010. Scott Free Films has signed on to exec-produce the project.

Screen Siren Pictures president Trish Dolman, who directed 2011’s Eco-Pirate: The Story of Paul Watson, will curate the video submissions and assemble the two-hour special.

Canada in a Day is produced by Screen Siren Pictures, in association with CTV and with the financial participation of the Canada Media Fund, Bell Fund, Creative B.C., FIBC and the Government of Canada. Screen Siren’s Christine Haebler will executive produce along side Scott Free, with Dolman and Michael Ghent producing.
