As 2011 comes to a close, Media in Canada is counting down the stories that got the most notice this year.
The media industry loves its awards, so MiC was not too surprised to see MediaCom Canada jump onto the most read list in the number five spot for its Media Agency of the Year win at strategy‘s Agency of the Year awards this November.
The agency beat out 15 others and impressed the jury with clever television integrations, such as leveraging scripted CTV programming like Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy to create a series of custom spots featuring the actual set designers for Homesense. They also paired Maytag with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada, and H&M with the MuchMusic Video Awards.
Other awards stories which got a lot of notice on MiC this year were:
The number two most clicked award story of the year was the story behind MediaCom Canada’s MAOY win.
Number three on the most popular awards stories of the year was Canada’s media wins at the Cannes Lions, where MEC took home a silver for its work on the Swiss Chalet Rotisserie Channel.
The Cannes juries had much love for Leo Burnett at this year’s festival, and so did MiC readers making the story of its multiple award wins the fourth most read awards story of the year.
The winners of the newly renamed Digi Awards brought in the fifth most readers for any awards story this year on Media in Canada.
Check back with MiC each day this week as we count down the most-read stories on the site for the year.
