CIBC partners with the Canadian Hockey League

The CIBC has announced a five-year sponsorship deal with the Canadian Hockey League. The deal means the financial company becomes the official bank of the CHL and its three regional leagues, Western Hockey League (WHL), Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The partnership will include sponsorship of 23 CHL teams, title sponsorship of the Canada Russia Series and associate sponsorship of the Mastercard Memorial Cup and CHL Top Prospects Game.

Yellow Pages acquires Totem

Yellow Pages has confirmed the addition of Toronto-based custom content company Totem to its portfolio of assets. Totem, formerly known as Redwood Custom Communications, was acquired by TC  Media in 2008. A Yellow Pages rep told MiC Totem’s work “complements the existing content” of Yellow Pages. Earlier this year, the Yellow Pages expanded its mobile ad offerings with the acquisition of ad-tech company Juice Mobile.

Outfront Media awarded contract with Sainte-Jérôme

Outfront Media has been awarded a long-term contract with the city of Saint-Jérôme to install outdoor locations throughout the Montreal suburb’s neighbourhoods and the main highway (A-15), which runs through the area. The new assets will include a mix of digital and static posters and superboards. Ad campaigns are expected to go live in early 2017. Sainte-Jérôme is located near the popular resort destinations of Mont Tremblant, Mont Gabriel and Mont Saint Sauveur and has grown 17% in its population over the past decade according to data from the Institut de la statistique du Québec reported by the OOH company.

Kijiji adds to account team

Kristen Spratt has joined the Toronto team at Kijiji as a national account executive. She comes to the eBay company from TubeMogul, where she has worked for the past three years as a senior account executive.

Oboxmedia announces new hires

Digital media company Oboxmedia has announced two new hires, adding Sabrina Roy as creative director in Montreal and John Meloche as a digital account executive in Toronto. Roy most recently worked at La Presse and has also held positions at Bell Media and Voir. Meloche has worked at digital media companies including Junction Digital, LivingSocial Canada and TC Media.

Mercedes-Benz Canada names new marketing lead

Car co Mercedes-Benz Canada has named Virginie Aubert as its new VP of marketing. Aubert joined Mercedes in 2006 as marketing communications supervisor and was promoted to her most recent role of national manager of marketing communications in the summer of 2014. She takes over the VP of marketing role from Gavin Allen who has been named the company’s new VP of sales.
