CRTC approves sponsored programs on CBC Radio 2

The regulator has given the green light to sponsored shows on the pubcaster's Espace Musique and Radio 2.

Following the addition of advertising on CBC’s Radio 2 and Espace Musique earlier this year, the CRTC has now given the pubcaster the green light to add sponsored programs to the stations.

The decision allows the CBC to broadcast programs that are only available on a sponsored basis, produced in exchange for direct or indirect financial contributions to the program and makes reference to the sponsor.

Programming on the stations that appear only on a sponsored basis are not allowed to broadcast ads, according to the decision from the CRTC.
