The conclusion of The Amazing Race Canada pulled in the highest average-minute audience (2+) of all single-night programs in Canada for the week of Sept. 11 to 17. That’s according to the latest Numeris report, which showed that CTV’s Race brought in 1.96 million viewers for its finale.
This most recent season of The Amazing Race Canada pulled in an average audience of 1.76 million across all 11 regular episodes, compared to last year’s average of 1.86 million viewers (not including two recap/reunion specials).
The Canadian original was the only program to beat the Emmy awards, which had a final AMA of 1.8 million (overnight ratings originally put the ceremony at 1.7 million). This represents a 6.2% increase over last year’s AMA of 1.69 million.
The awards were followed by two episodes of America’s Got Talent on City, which brought in 1.63 million viewers on Tuesday and 1.53 million on Wednesday. Although the reality competition show moved down from its previous second- and third-place finishes, it did post gains over the previous week’s AMA.
The top-five was rounded out by Global’s Thursday night broadcast of Big Brother, which brought in 1.26 million viewers.
Both Race and the Emmys battled for the top spot across the country’s Anglophone regional markets. In French Quebec, scripted television was back on top, with SRC’s Unité 9 taking the top spot. Viewership numbers were also up after a summer of most top shows pulling in six-figure audiences — all of the top-five grabbed audiences of 1.1 million and higher.
Here are the top-ranked daily measured shows by market (AMA for all persons 2+), according to Numeris, for Sept. 11 to 17, 2017.
