Could the gap be narrowing between CTV’s most popular comedy and its new medical drama?
The Big Bang Theory once again carried the week for ratings for its third episode of the season, although its average-minute audience fell slightly from the second week. The comedy on CTV took the top spot in Canada for the week of Oct. 9 to 15 for the highest average-minute audience of all single-night broadcasts, according to Numeris.
Its average audience of 2.96 million fell slightly from last week’s 3.11 million.
It was followed by another CTV series, new drama The Good Doctor, which has sat comfortably in the top-five since its premiere three weeks ago (The Good Doctor grew its average audience slightly to 2.68 million up from 2.65 million). In most markets, The Big Bang Theory was the big winner, but The Good Doctor managed to take the lead in Vancouver and Montreal.
Filling out the top five nationally were Global’s Survivor with 2.09 million viewers, NCIS with 2.074 million, and CBC’s broadcast of Hockey Night in Canada, which pulled in 2.071 million viewers.
Big Bang‘s prequel series, Young Sheldon, which opened its season last month with 3.56 million viewers and came in a close second behind its predecessor, won’t return to the airwaves for a second time until Nov. 2.
In the Francophone market, TVA’s reality competition series La voix junior continued to lead the pack for the fourth straight week, rising to 1.92 million from last week’s 1.85 million.
