One wouldn’t expect to see Timbits on a wedding food menu, but that didn’t stop a Tim Horton’s from getting in on the Royal Wedding action last weekend.
The restaurant, located in London, Ont., dressed up as though it was straight out of London, U.K. in order to host a Royal Wedding viewing party and reception.
From 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 26, the north London cafe location was outfitted with Union Jacks, formal Queen’s guards, white table cloths and Royal Wedding themed treats (such as an elderflower frozen lemonade, inspired by the elderflower wedding cake).
Timbits were also given out in special London-themed boxes.
The stunt was part of an effort to engage Tims customers around the wedding, with media by UM, creative spearheaded by Zulu Alpha Kilo and PR by Citizen Relations. In order to promote the activation, a paid social campaign using the hashtag #RoyallyTims was launched leading up to the event.
