OLG has made a big buy in the Toronto radio market, propelling it to the top of the Media Monitors charts for last week.
Between Feb. 4 and 10, the lotto and gaming commission purchased 1,563 spots on the radio, more than twice as much as the next-biggest buyer, vacation company Sunwing. Sunwing had previously held the #1 spot with 766 ads, lowered its buy slightly to 651.
Rounding out the top-five were BMO (up from #4), Desjardins (up from #6) and 1-800-GOT-JUNK (down from #3).
Even despite the OLG’s major buy, the top buying category in Toronto was the financial services, banks, credit unions and mortgage brokers category, with a collective total of 3,171 spots.
Montreal did not see nearly as much of a shake-up as Toronto – in fact, the top-three buyers were the same as the previous week, starting with CTV on top, followed by Bell TV and travel service RedTag.ca.
BMO moved up two spots to #4, while Pharmaprix moved down one spot to #5.
For categories, the restaurants and night clubs category remains the most prolific group of buyers in Montreal, although there were nearly 100 fewer spots this week (695) than last week (783).
