Officially passed at yesterday’s board meeting, this year’s board of directors is chaired by The Globe and Mail chief revenue officer Andrew Saunders (pictured above). Sonia Carreno, president of IAB Canada, says that as the industry changes, it’s important to have a variety of voices at the table, including Canadian publishers, marketers and ad tech experts.
As such, the IAB has also selected its committees and councils for special focuses. Quantcast’s Laura Main will lead the ad tech council, while Havas’ Fil Lourenco will lead the agency council.
Speaking to MiC, Lourenco says he put his hand up for the position out of a desire to have agencies and marketers, as well as tech platforms, come to the table together in order to create a better media ecosystem through representation.
“The challenges facing agencies are increasingly becoming the challenges facing marketers and clients,” he says, citing both talent and transparency as major issues that he thinks can be better tackled collaboratively.
For committees, Rogers’ Rose Hutchison will lead data and analytics. Jennifer Bidwell of Astral OOH will lead DOOH, Chamelon Digital Media’s Alan Sifuentes and FrontRunner’s Amanda Dorenberg will lead mobile and Google Canada’s Carmel Doherty will lead search.
