Digital growth leads to new VP position at Horizon

Doron Dinovitzer will lead digital planning and activation while also providing digital thought leadership.

Horizon Media Canada has upped its digital game with the hire of Doron Dinovitzer in the newly created position of VP of digital, effective immediately.

He will responsible for digital thought leadership across the agency and oversees the digital planning team and digital activation and operations team. Although his leadership role applies to the Canadian office, he will partner closely with the existing cross-functional executive team and the practice leads in the agency’s U.S. office as well.

Dinovitzer will report directly to Kevin Kivi, EVP and general manager for Horizon Canada.

Kivi tells MiC that the agency’s growth drove the hire. “We collectively felt it was important that digital had strong foundational leadership that oversees all aspects of digital, versus creating silos between planning and buying, which is far too common in today’s digital structures. This means that we can be more nimble and efficient across our digital portfolio and focused on furthering business outcomes for our clients.”

Now in its third year of operation, Horizon Media Canada is growing rapidly – +214% in the last year, according to the June RECMA report. Some of that growth has been organic – its business with Tim Hortons has increased – but the agency also has additional projects with Burger King and wins such as Petco.

This new digital leadership role will strengthen the management team in an increasingly consumer-led and digital-first commercial environment, says Kivi.

Dinovitzer joins Horizon from Media Experts where he was leading its performance marketing team. Prior to that, he spent five years at OMD.
