Global sets the return date for its fall favourites

The network's Wednesday night looks a little different now, as NCIS and its spin-offs make a return.

For the second time in as many months, Corus Entertainment’s Global set out a list of premiere dates for its fall favourites.

The network confirmed that NCIS (pictured) and its two spin-offs, SWAT and The Neighborhood will all return in November.

The first to return will be NCIS: Los Angeles and its New Orleans counterpart, which will hit the airwaves Nov. 8 at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively, airing in their classic Sunday night spots. The flagship NCIS will have a slightly later return on Nov. 18, and, in the absence of a Survivor return, will move to Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. (going up against The Masked Singer) after years as a Tuesday night mainstay.

SWAT will roll out its fourth season beginning Nov. 11 at 9 p.m. and will directly follow NCIS on Wednesdays, taking the night from being Global’s reality night to an action procedural night.

Finally, The Neighborhood is also joining other comedies the network picked up, like the reboot of One Day at a Time and The Greatest #AtHome Videos. It will begin its third season on Nov. 16 at 8 p.m., making Monday a comedy night on the network.

While normally most fall premiere dates are announced around the same time – and usually quite a bit earlier in the year – 2020 prompted some change. While many of the newer series coming to networks this fall were already “in the can” by the onset of the pandemic, some ongoing and returning series suffered from production shutdowns and delays. Earlier this fall, CTV had to split up its premiere date announcements, first rolling out dates for many of its newer shows before finally nailing down dates for returning favourites like The Good Doctor and This Is Us.

CBC also had to delay the return of one of its classics, Battle of the Blades, due to the live taping of the premiere being affected by a positive COVID-19 test. That date was officially reset to Oct. 22.
