Grammy’s falter in national TV ratings: Numeris

The award show failed to make the top five broadcasts in Canada, and only made the list in two urban markets.

Despite competition from a major awards show, CTV programming topped the English language television audience ratings across the country for the week of Mar. 8 to Mar. 14, according to Numeris data, with The Good Doctor returning to its place as the largest single-night broadcast.

The CTV medical drama pulled in 2.42 million viewers nationwide, and while the 63rd Grammy Awards – which aired on Sunday, Mar. 14 – made a mark in Toronto (424,000 viewers) and Montreal (64,000 viewers), it didn’t make the top five nationally, its popularity down significantly from last year when it topped most markets. The broadcast on City pulled in 1.11 million viewers nationally, down from 1..94 million last year.

Les beaux malaises 2.0 continues to stay on top for Francophone TV, with 1.73 million viewers.

NHL Hockey was popular in Toronto/Hamilton and Calgary, and Oilers games against the Senators and Canucks took the top two spots in Edmonton.

Police dramas 9-1-1, 9-1-1: Lonestar and NCIS on both CTV and Global stayed strong across the board.
