Bell Media presented its fall and winter schedule of French language programming across Noovo and specialty channels.
The Noovo schedule of new shows includes ChouChou, a story about a 37-year-old French teacher who falls in love with her new 17-year-old student. The series draws a nuanced profile of two people who fall head over heels for the illusion of a great love story.
Game show Le maitre du jeu is the Québec adaptation of the popular British series Taskmaster. It features a panel of five comedians who try to impress the Taskmaster in accomplishing various tasks and feats to be crowned champion.
Two legal-focused series have been added to the roster. Les justiciers is an unscripted series built around three lawyers who settle the small claims cases of ordinary citizens. In each episode, the lawyers hear three different cases, and following some debate, announce their verdict. In addition, they offer behind-the-scenes access to the deliberations that led to the verdict. On the scripted side, Une affaire criminelle follows the struggle of a mother who has spent the last 15 years trying to prove that her son was wrongly convicted of murder. She’s helped by a homicide investigator who has always suspected that a friend of the family knows more than he’s letting on.
Popular shows returning to Noovo this fall include season three of Ca c’est drole, season two of variety show Club Soly, season three of comedy series Entre deux draps, season four of interview show La semaine des 4 Julie, season two of Syndics, season two of comedy …Moi non plus and season 14 of cooking show Un Souper Presque Parfait.
Also returning to Noovo is its most-watched show of fall 2021, dating show Occupation Double, and its second-most watched show, singing competition Qui sait chanter?
New programs set for the winter include L’Empereur, a drama about a workplace sexual assault and the woman accusing her boss, a popular member of business and society, of the offence 10 years after the incident. Virage: Double Faute is the story of a talented tennis player struggling with injuries, funding and anxiety. Season three of the Quebec version of Big Brother Celebrites is also on the winter roster.
On the specialty side, Canal Vie will be airing new show Amour sans limite, which follows people with disabilities looking for love. It will also feature unscripted series Coeurs migratoires, showing couples where on member has either just arrived in Canada or is awaiting their visa. Ma premiere maison follows singer Mélissa Bédards and her large family settling down into a new home.
On Canal D, Bêtes de film follows a father-son duo who train animals for film and TV. J’ai frôlé la mort tells the stories of people who have survived life-threatening situations. Documentary series Priez pour nous is a critical look at sexual abuse by members of the clergy and how victims are seeking justice.
Finally, Z has two new programs this fall: Au chalet de Rémi, where Rémi-Pierre Paquin will convince friends visitors why they should love his hometown of Mauricie; and Christine Morency: Sans filtre, a documentary series looking at the comedian’s preparations for her one-woman show.
