Tangerine’s Raptors sponsorship turns bank shots into charity

For every shot that bounces off the backboard and into the net, Tangerine will deposit $1,000 into an account that will go to community initiatives.

Tangerine has been sponsoring the Toronto Raptors since 2018, but its latest iteration of the collaboration is seeing the bank donate money to charity.

“Tangerine is setting out to make a meaningful connection not only with fans, but the community at large through its Bank Shot campaign,” says Nicole German, CMO Tangerine.

During the 2022-2023 Toronto Raptors NBA Season, every shot that bounces off the backboard and into the net, a move coined a “bank shot,” will turn into real bank for the basketball community while also unlocking exclusive prizes for fans. For every bank shot hit by the Raptors, Tangerine will deposit $1,000 into the Bank Shot account. At the end of the season, the funds collected will be donated to basketball community initiatives throughout Canada.

The campaign will be activated through TV spots, radio ads, Scotiabank Arena signage, the Raptors.com website, owned digital assets and social channels. Two placements will also be located on Bremner Boulevard at Scotiabank Arena.

“We’ll also be highlighting key milestones along the way as more bank keeps being added to the Tangerine Bank Shot Account,” adds German.

Tangerine became the official and exclusive bank of the Toronto Raptors on Jul. 1, 2018. The partnership follows a deal previously made by Scotiabank and MLSE.
