Sporting Life-owned Golf Town has signed a partnership with ParaGolf Canada on a series of adaptive initiatives to help Canadians of all abilities participate in the sport.
Founded by Canadian golf pro Todd Keirstead, ParaGolf Canada is an initiative to give Canadians of all abilities a pathway to participate in golf.
Among the activities that Golf Town will be supporting is the creation of an adaptive golf league where individuals of all abilities can play in a non-competitive environment, while still having the opportunity to win weekly prizes. The retailer will also help ParaGolf create an event centred around adaptive golf, aimed at supporting and motivating people with physical, sensory and cognitive disabilities to participate.
In-store, Golf Town will be supporting the goals of the partnership through clinics and workshops geared towards golf professionals, health-care professionals and individuals to help them better understand the nuances of the golf swing in adaptive situations. Staff will also be trained to use technology that can help them properly fit players of all abilities with clubs that meet their needs.
The clinics will be available in select locations, with the adaptive club fitting soon available at all stores.
Fred Lecoq, CMO for Golf Town, says the partnership is an extension of the retailer’s “Come Out and Play” brand positioning.
“We believe in making the game inclusive and accessible for all Canadians, we’ve developed programs that bring golf to more women and children and our latest partnership with ParaGolf Canada furthers these efforts,” Lecoq says.
