Shoppers Drug Mart headed the list of the top 10 most active radio advertisers in Canada for the week of Nov 13 to19, replacing McDonald’s, which dominated the market the previous week, according to AdEase Radio’s latest report.
Shoppers landed first in Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and in second in Vancouver and Edmonton, where McDonald’s stayed in the lead. The drugstore chain aired a total of 13,402 ads, while the QSR had a combined 9,123 airings. Below Shoppers and McDonald’s were Amazon and Nissan dealers with a total of 5,513 and 4,412 airings, respectively. Tim Hortons was also one of the most active advertisers in almost all markets (except in Quebec), with 390 fewer combined airings than Amazon.
One of the biggest movers was Donnelly Automotive Group, which climbed 509 places to rank fourth in Ottawa, as well as Toyota dealers, which placed seventh in Edmonton after moving up 470 positions. And categorically, smartphone and mobile services jumped 128 spots to enter the top 10 in Calgary, and beer, wine and liquor stores rose 237 places to take fifth place in Toronto.
