Robert Cooney returns to DAC

The exec rejoins the company as VP of client strategy after a two-year stint at Horizon Next.

Digital media agency DAC has hired exec Robert Cooney as VP of client strategy.

Cooney returns to DAC after serving as the agency’s director of digital media and then director of client strategy from 2016 to 2021.

In his new role, Cooney will tackle “high-value business problems that require multidisciplinary solutions,” according to the company.

He has been tasked with supporting clients and helping them understand the impact of the changing media landscape on their brand strategies. He will also advise on new business development and help develop DAC’s capabilities as an agency.

Cooney joins DAC after spending more than two years at Toronto-based media and marketing agency Horizon Next, where he was a VP and managing director for the Canadian market. At Horizon, he was responsible for providing strategy, media planning and analytics services to brands such as Peloton, Blue Buffalo, HelloFresh, Bath Fitter and Noom.

Of returning to the agency, Cooney said in a release, “With this team, and with the investments the company has made in advanced analytics and AI, I believe DAC is better positioned than any other agency to lead, and to redefine what it looks like for brands to deliver memorable customer experiences.”

Last year, DAC built out its leadership team with a trio of promotions and hires, including Sonia Allard, who was promoted to VP of marketing communications, Adam Luck, who was appointed managing director of Canada, and Fanny Mooijekind, who was hired as general manager in Montreal
