Tim Hortons has replaced McDonald’s as the most active advertiser on TV.

The latest AdEase report shows that the QSR scored 2,940 combined occurrences between April 15 to 21, and ranked first in Vancouver and Montreal, second in Calgary and third in Toronto. The previous week, it finished third with a total of 1,605 occurrences.

McDonald’s, meanwhile, ranked second on the list, with 2,611 combined occurrences. The restaurant chain had dominated the TV market for the previous six weeks, but began to reduce its buying in the first week of April.

The third most active advertiser was Subaru, which recorded 2,552 occurrences and was followed by Ford Dealers, with 1,164, and RBC Financial Group, with 1,547.

Subaru also took first place in the ranking of top ad-spots in Vancouver, with an ad about its first all-electric SUV. McDonald’s ranked #1 in Calgary with its Quarter Pounder spot, while its McMuffin meal deal ad pushed it to the top of the list in Toronto. And Ebox headed the list in Montreal with a commercial about its Internet services.

Among the week’s biggest movers were pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, which jumped 104 positions to tenth in Vancouver, and Toyota, which rose 118 places to tenth in Calgary.
