Havas Media named media AOR for credit union Vancity

The agency will handle media planning and buying, with a focus on the British Columbia region.

Havas Media Network (HMN) has been named media AOR for Canadian credit union Vancity after a six-month review.

Under the new appointment, HMN will manage Vancity’s media strategy, planning and buying with a focus on the British Columbia region, where Vancity’s locations are. The account will be managed from HMN’s Vancouver office. The agency will also work with VML, Vancity’s creative AOR, to drive the company’s business. The first work from HMN and Vancity debuts in June, said the companies.

The integrated solution offered by HMN and its agency Noise Digital, which specializes in data, digital marketing, media automation and marketing technology, was one of the deciding factors in the appointment, Vancity VP of marketing Gurpreet Jhaj tells Media in Canada. Havas’ media planning system called Mx will enable Vancity to make data-driven strategic decisions and boost the client’s marketing approach, says Jha.

“Vancity was looking for a partner whose values aligned with their own. HMN builds more meaningful brands through its proprietary Mx system and will bring that data-driven innovation and audience-first approach to make a meaningful difference for Vancity,” says Jha.

Founded in 1946, Vancity offers financial products and services, including everyday banking, investments, mortgages, loans and credit cards. Over the years, it has expanded throughout the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island with more than 50 branches.

Vancity moves its business to HMN following a year of growth in Canada for the media company, led by its former president in Canada, Noah Vardon, who recently took over as chief client officer of Havas Media Network North America.

Under Noah’s leadership, Sun Life, The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and Destination Vancouver named HMN as their AOR. The company also acquired Noise in 2023, which has helped it expand its footprint in Canada and boost its data technology business in the country.
