Postmedia is cutting the Sunday paper at three of its titles in the next two months to reduce overall print production costs, a company representative confirmed to MiC.
The Edmonton Journal will see its last Sunday edition printed on June 24, the Ottawa Citizen in mid-July and the Calgary Herald will stop its seventh day paper on July 29.
The company representative also confirmed that Postmedia is centralizing more of its operations, including copy editing and headline writing to the Hamilton, ON-based Postmedia Editorial Services branch. This will mean job cuts to each newsroom, but numbers have not yet been finalized according to the representative.
