ABC has released its latest newspaper circulation report, measuring 59 papers across Canada, with numbers being measured for the time period ending Sept. 30, 2012 versus Sept. 30, 2011. Because this report doesn’t measure the vast majority of titles across the country there isn’t a percentage breakdown in overall circulation jumps or losses, instead breaking it down just by title.

The National Post and Globe and Mail both saw its paid circulation dip for the year. Paid circulation for the weekly edition of the National Post from Monday to Friday was down for the period, from 144,116 at the end of September last year to 143,215 this year. The Saturday edition of the National Post posted a larger dip from 152,486 last year to 143,723 this year.

The weekday edition of the Globe and Mail is down for the year, from 306,985 in total paid circulation last September to 283,269 this year. Its Saturday paper saw a larger dip, from 370,180 last year to 349,080 at the end of this September.

Papers that posted gains in total paid circulation for the year included the Saturday edition of Le Devoir from Montreal, which jumped from 48,228 last September to 51,202 this year. Its weekday edition also posted a gain for the year, moving from 29,812 last year to 31,646 this year.

The weekday edition of La Presse in Montreal also saw a jump in paid circulation for the year, moving from 204,948 last September to 213,212 this year.

Le Nouvelliste‘s Saturday edition in Quebec saw a small jump, from 45,783 last September to 45,904 this year.

The Sunday edition of the Herald in Calgary is higher for this year, moving from 113,816 last year to 114,293 this September.

Fort McMurray-based Today also posted a small gain, moving from 2,013 last year to 2,295 at the end of this September.
