Over one million saw James crowned on TSN

Bell Media played host to multiple big Sunday night events, drawing large numbers on TSN and HBO Canada, and lower overnights for the iHeartRadio MMVAs.

Can you have too much of a good thing? That’s a question Bell Media executives might have been asking themselves on Sunday night as the media company played broadcast host to three major events: its inaugural iHeartRadio MMVAs on CTV, Much and VRAK; game seven of the NBA Finals on TSN; and a thrilling episode of Game of Thrones on HBO Canada.

Game seven of the NBA Finals was watched by an average audience of 1.2 million viewers on TSN, according to overnight Numeris numbers from Bell Media. Audience levels peaked at 1.7 million viewers late in the fourth quarter when Kyrie Irving helped seal the win for the Cavaliers. In total, 4.3 million unique viewers watched the game at least in part. Overall, an average of 870,000 viewers watched the four NBA Finals games broadcast on TSN.

Viewership to the iHeartRadio MMVAs came in at a total audience of 486,000 across CTV, Much and VRAK, according to confirmed Numeris numbers. That’s down from an average audience of 785,000 that tuned into the MMVAs live during Bell Media’s roadblock for the show in 2015.

HBO Canada also brought in big numbers, with an average audience of 1.1 million viewers tuning in for a battle-filled episode of Game of Thrones, according to confirmed Numeris numbers.
