Marriott International has named MEC as its global media agency of record.
The hotel company put its media account into review this summer to consolidate its global account work. Marriott International had been working with Carat in the US, Starcom in Latin America, ZenithOptimedia in Asia and MEC on a project basis before the review.
Marriott International said in a release that it came down to MEC and ZenithOptimedia as the final two agencies vying for the work.
Pending a signed contract, MEC will begin working on the account starting on Nov. 1.
“Both finalist agency teams did an outstanding job during the process,” Susan Thronson, SVP global marketing, Marriott International, said in a release. “Our decision came down to our confidence in the quality of the team, insights on our brands and calibre of their global organization. We believe MEC is the best fit for us.”
