Disney Channel live in Canada
Corus Entertainment’s Disney Channel is live in Canada, available to 10 million homes. The channel launched with Bell Aliant, Bell Fibe TV, Bell Satellite TV, CCSA members including Eastlink and Access, Cogeco Cable Canada, MTS, Rogers, Shaw, Shaw Direct, TELUS and Videotron. SaskTel customers will have access to the channel in the coming weeks.
Former CFL commissioner tackles new industry
Former CFL commissioner Mark Cohon has been named the chairman of the board of directors for the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAs), the Juno Awards and MusiCounts. Cohon starts in the role on Sept. 29, and succeeds Ed Robinson.
Neil Patrick Harris gets CTV boost
Bell Media is giving new variety program, Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris a boost for its first three weeks, airing it on CTV before it moves to CTV Two on Oct. 6. The eight-episode season premieres on Tuesday Sept. 15 at 10 p.m.
Twitter Ads expand globally
Twitter has expanded its Twitter Ads offering, making them available in over 200 countries and territories. The offering has been in Canada since 2013, but prior to this update Twitter Ads were only available in English. According to the announcement there are now more than 100,000 active advertisers on the platform.
Corus Entertainment expands Cartoon Network
The Cartoon Network’s distribution has been expanded to over five million subscribers in Canada. The Corus Entertainment channel is available for the first time on Rogers, Shaw and Shaw Direct.
