GroupM Canada reshuffles agency structure and client leadership

Three new agency-wide positions have been created and client-facing roles have been upgraded.

GroupM Canada has announced a restructuring that emphasizes the agency’s focus on its clients, beginning with the creation of a new position, GroupM Chief Client Officer (CCO).  Urania Agas has been appointed to this company-wide role. She will be transitioning from her current position of CEO of EssenceMediacom Canada and is now responsible for delivering enhanced levels of client service and support and operationalization of best practices across all GroupM agencies in Canada. Agas has been with GroupM in various capacities for over 12 years, most recently working as CEO of EssenceMediacom in Canada where she led Essence and MediaCom through their merger and subsequent new business success.

“Instating a GroupM Client Officer is an investment that demonstrates our commitment to ensuring we are delivering the best of our capabilities and strategic offerings to our clients every single day. This is my mission and I look forward to bringing this, and my unwavering dedication to client excellence to life for our clients across Wavemaker. Mindshare, and EssenceMediacom,” Agas tells MiC.

Two other company-wide roles have been announced. Nikki Stone, CEO of Wavemaker Canada since last September, has now been bumped up to take on the new group wide role as GroupM Chief Commerce Officer. Since joining GroupM Stone has shown strength in the retail media and commerce and performance capabilities and thinking that drives significant growth for clients in this arena. Moving Stone to this group wide Commerce role will broaden that impact across clients across all GroupM agencies.

Kieran Miles, Chief Strategy Officer for EssenceMediacom has been promoted to the position of GroupM Chief Growth Officer. This new role streamlines new business operations into a GroupM Growth Team. Miles and the team will support all aspects of growth, prospecting, pitching, and organic growth. His work as CSO of EssenceMediacom over the last nine years helped the agency win some of Canada’s biggest clients.

With this enhanced focus on client excellence across GroupM, other client, commerce and growth leadership roles are evolving. These changes include Jodi Peacock, currently executive director, Client Leadership at EssenceMediacom Canada who is moving into the Client President role at EssenceMediacom in Canada. Alice DiGiovanni, currently VP, Client Leadership at Wavemaker Canada will take on the leadership position as Client President for Wavemaker in Canada.

Lesley Conway is leaving her role as CEO of Mindshare Canada, a post she’s held two years. Filling that vacancy is Lisa Kahn, most recently executive director, Planning at EssenceMediacom Canada. Kahn will now lead Mindshare as Client President in Canada.
