The former Spotify exec aims to continue the audio ad exchange's expansion.

jonhalesDigital audio advertising exchange DAX has hired Jon Hales as chief growth officer.

Continuing to be based in Toronto, Hales will focus on tactical revenue growth, team performance, strategy and alignment across the company’s North America operations. He takes over the role from Les Hollander, who was promoted to CEO of DAX North America earlier this year.

Hales joins DAX after seven years at Spotify, which he joined in 2014 to set up its Canadian outpost as country manager. Following that, he took on global roles, including setting up its global sales operations group and, most recently, leading a re-boot of Spotify’s Latin American advertising business. Prior to Spotify, Hales headed video sales for AOL Canada and was director of sales for Discovery Channel at Bell Media.

DAX’s network reaches 110 million listeners globally. This year, it has added to that network in Canada with NPR and The Investor’s Podcast.
