It’s rodeo season in Calgary, and Cheetos is getting into the spirit by bringing out one of its most eye-catching stunts.
PepsiCo’s giant Cheeto statue was first erected in Cheadle, Alberta, a town with a name that sounds similar to “cheetle,” the technical term for the cheesy dust left on someone’s fingers after eating Cheetos. The stunt would go on to win several awards, including a Cannes Lion.
Working with agency partner Motive, the statue was brought out again for the The Frito Lay Canada Bullpen, an experiential activation in Calgary held this week.

The Bullpen also featured the “wild wild Cheetle,” a mechanical bull shaped like a Cheeto and, like the statue, is held up by cheetle-covered fingers. Frito Lay’s snack brands were also featured in a number of indulgent culinary creations, such as Cheetos on hot dogs, Ruffles sandwiches and donuts made with Lays.
The one-day event was not affiliated with the Calgary Stampede, as PepsiCo and its brands are not sponsors of the event, but does come at a time when the ten-day event brings a big audience to the city. The Stampede and other nearby events drew 1.2 million visitors last year.
