It’s that time of year again as fall TV looks ahead to the mid-season, but what marks 2014 as different than many other years is the number of shows earning full-season orders from the major US nets. And what’s good news for actors looking to book gigs through winter is good news for Canadian broadcasters too, who aren’t left with holes to fill as skittish US nets cut and run on lower-performing series.
Here’s a recap of this week’s network news:
City:
Monday night thriller, Scorpion has a full 22-episode order for its first season, which is currently airing at 9 p.m. on the Rogers Media channel. The show premiered to an average audience of 1.36 million viewers and has an average audience of 1.6 million for episodes so far this season.
Also getting a full-season order on the channel is new comedy Black-ish, which airs Wednesday nights at 9:30 p.m. on the channel following Modern Family. It has an average audience of 739,600 viewers for episodes so far this season.
CTV:

Also getting picked up for a full season is co-view all-star The Flash – which has had a record run on the CW in the U.S., becoming its most-watched telecast ever – airing Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. It is averaging 2.8 million viewers for episodes on CTV so far this season.
Last on the list for a full-season order for the channel to date is Thursday night ratings killer How to Get Away with Murder, which airs at 10 p.m. The show premiered to an average audience of 2.4 million. The show is averaging 3.1 million viewers for episodes on CTV so far this season.
