Rogers signs multi-year presenting partnership deal with TIFF
After the success of 2024’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which saw Rogers take over presenting partner duties from Bell, the telecom behemoth has signed on to do it again, at least three more times.
TIFF and Rogers have signed a multi-year deal that will see the telecom brand sponsoring the festival, including the People’s Choice Award, through 2027. The 50th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival will take place from September 4 to 14, 2025.
In a statement, Rogers said that it will create a new original content series in partnership with TIFF’s in-house Studio 9 production team. Rogers will also develop and produce a 50th edition TV special to be aired exclusively on Citytv. Like last year, Rogers customers will have access to VIP red carpet experiences through Rogers Beyond the Seat.
“We share a vision of celebrating Canadian storytelling and commitment to excellence on a global stage, and we look forward to working together to create a truly remarkable 50th edition of our Festival in September,” said Cameron Bailey, CEO, TIFF.
Kantar Group announces the proposed sale of Kantar Media
Marketing data and analytics company Kantar Group is selling its media measurement and analytics unit Kantar Media to private-equity firm H.I.G. Capital for approximately $1 billion.
Subject to customary legal and regulatory requirements, as well as the completion of the information and consultation processes with employee representatives, the proposed transaction is expected to close later this year.
London-based Kantar Media, which operates in more than 60 markets and employs more than 4,500 people worldwide, provides brands, agencies and media owners with insights into audience behaviour, advertising effectiveness and media consumption patterns.
Chris Jansen, Kantar’s chief executive, said, “We set up Kantar Media to be operationally independent in 2023, to allow it to consolidate its global leadership position in audience measurement… Following the proposed sale, Kantar will be even more focused on helping both global and local brands to grow through a unique combination of IP, data assets, and increasing the rapid deployment of AI.”
Kantor Group is already partially owned by private equity firms. In 2019, advertising holding company WPP agreed to sell a 60% stake in Kantar to Bain Capital Private Equity.
