ICYMI: TC Media buys Rogers B2B titles, MSL acquires North Strategic

In case you missed it: TC Media has acquired the advisor and financial B2B titles from Rogers Media, Groupe V Media has hired a new EVP and Canada's PR industry has consolidated further with MSLGroup deal.

Transcontinental Media acquires B2B financial titles from Rogers

This week Rogers Media announced it sold the final set of its B2B titles, with Transcontinental Media acquiring all of the advisor and financial titles. The brands included in the transaction are Advisor’s Edge, Advisor’s Edge Report, Conseiller and Le journal du Conseiller, Benefits Canada, Avantages, Canadian Insurance Top Broker and Canadian Investment Review.

Groupe V Media names new EVP

Groupe V Media has hired Dimitri Gourdin as EVP, strategy and communications. Gourdin will work in a leadership role at the company’s corporate, public and governmental affairs, marketing and communications department, as well as acting as the company’s spokesperson. Prior to joining Groupe V, Gourdin worked as SVP and GM of the Montreal office of Hill+Knowlton.

MSLGroup acquires North Strategic

North Strategic is the latest agency to join Publicis Groupe, having been acquired by MSLGroup in Canada.

The PR agency, as well as its video and content production hub Notch Video, will retain its name and continue to work separately from the existing operations of MSL Canada, though it will be part of Publicis Communications and have greater opportunities to work alongside the agencies in that division of the holding company, according to a release on the deal. In addition to MSLGroup, Publicis owns Leo Burnett, Saatchi & Saatchi, Publicis Worldwide and Nurun.

Crystals Radio Awards open for entries next week

Entries for the 2017 Crystals Radio Awards, which reward the best in radio creative, open on Dec. 5. Categories in the 2017 awards include best entry from a small market, copywriting and station campaign. The awards will be handed out on Wednesday, April 19 at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto.

Vibrant acquires Collide

Canadian experiential agency Vibrant expanded into the U.S. this week with the acquisition of Collide. Based in Los Angeles, Collide also operates offices in Chicago and New York. The acquisition will extend Vibrant’s reach beyond its current offices in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.
