It’s been 10 months since former managing director Rory Capern left Twitter Canada. Now, the social network’s Canadian arm has finally found a permanent replacement for Capern, and has also bolstered its executive team.
Former managing director of Huge, Paul Burns, will take the title, officially joining the company in July, according to a representative for Twitter.
Burns’ background lies mostly in digital, but at Huge he stood at the helm of a global agency, managing clients in business strategy, digital design, marketing, UX and technology services. Brands he worked with during his three years at Huge included Nike, Canada Goose and TD.
His previous work experience also includes VP of digital at Shaw Communications, VP of digital at Canwest and various other director and manager positions with Sympatico, Nokia and more. He’s also sat on the board of directors of IAB Canada and the Banff World Media Festival.
Meanwhile, Leanne Gibson, Twitter Canada’s former head of agency who had been serving as interim managing director following Capern’s departure, is now head of revenue for the company. She will continue to work on Twitter’s client-side operations, as she has done for the last two years.
Capern, who had spent 18 months in the top position at Twitter Canada, joined Weather Network parent company Pelmorex Corp as VP of partnerships shortly after his departure.
