The royal baby wait Monday had Canadian broadcasters looking to correspondents in London and TV specials to bring news back home.
Most newspaper and broadcast websites featured “royal baby watch” webcams pinned on the front door of the Saint Mary’s Hospital in London before news of the new baby boy from Kate and Will came through late afternoon.
Global Television, CityNews, the CBC and CTV National News sent news anchors to cover the event either outside the hospital or at Buckingham Palace.
ET Canada featured “Oh Baby!” as the tagline for its royal baby coverage, while City partnered with Hello! Canada to air Monday evening a one-hour TV special, Hello! Baby, hosted by Gord Martineau.
The supper-hour coverage also included visits by correspondents to local hospitals to interview mothers who also gave birth Monday.
And there was footage of a royal-themed high tea at Royal York Hotel in Toronto as local TV crews scrambled to cover the royal birth.
