Reality rules, but one new scripted show cracks top five: Numeris

A Torontonian's presence in AGT helped give it a boost in that market.

While some of the new and returning fall shows are holding out until late October and November to hit the airwaves, the first glimpses of Fall TV are officially upon us. The Numeris results for the week ending Sept. 27 show that despite some new shows being on the air, audiences were most eager for reality TV.

Big, stagey shows were the big winners of the week, with The Masked Singer, I Can See Your Voice (starring Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong) and America’s Got Talent all cracking the top-five. The Masked Singer took the highest AMA of all single-night programs, but others were nipping closely at its heels. And, Big Brother still managed to come in second, making four out of the top-five shows all from the unscripted genre. But, one scripted show – a new one – rounded out the top five. CTV’s Filthy Rich took in 1.21 million viewers nationally, tying with AGT.

Even though the number-one show, TVA’s La voix, saw a slight dip in its viewers, the Francophone top-five overall saw more views, with all of the top shows above one million for the first time since before the summer.

Although the finale of America’s Got Talent didn’t come out on top on a national scale, the presence of Canada’s talented 10-year-old Roberta Battaglia in the season finale helped boost its presence in Toronto. While Battaglia didn’t win the competition, the show won the Toronto/Hamilton market with 432,000 viewers on the finale.
