People Moves: Bell makes another round of layoffs

Plus, Lynn Chambers joins Twenty-Two Media and Pratico Media adds to its strategy team.

More layoffs hit Bell’s radio and TV divisions

Among the layoffs are Mike Bendixen at Toronto’s Newstalk 1010, where he was program director, as well as national format director for news and talk programming; Greg MacDonald, regional creative and production director for both radio and television in Bell Media’s southwest Ontario region; production manager Jeff Kirkwood; and writer Damon Papadopoulos.

These follow several waves of layoffs that hit Bell Media at the beginning of the year. Those included departures from its executive team, the consolidation of its in-house production units and the shuttering of radio stations.

Twenty-Two hires first managing director

Twenty-Two Media, publisher of magazine brands Foodism Toronto and Escapism Torontohas hired Lynn Chambers as managing director.

The first to hold the role at the company, Chambers adds senior publishing experience to the company, which – in addition to its food and travel magazines – has brought on new video, custom content and creative business over the past six months. That includes “In The Kitchen with Foodism,” a six-part video series that has featured sponsorship from the likes of Traeger Grills, St. Lawrence Market, Gaylea, Sleeman Breweries and Arterra Wines, and a custom content and video series in partnership with George Brown College on industry recovery series.

Chambers spent the last year and a half as SVP of revenue at St. Joseph Communications, but has also had VP-level roles at Corus, TC Media and Fuel Advertising.

Pratico makes a hire on its marketing strategy team

Montreal-based custom content agency Pratico Media has hired Marie-Septembre Larouche as marketing strategist.

In her new role, Larouche will lead efforts related to creative media at the company, as well as internal marketing and work for its Pratico Publishing division. She first joined the agency three years ago.

Over the summer, Pratico restructured into three divisions: content agency Pratico Media; Pratico Pratiques, which operates blogs like 5 Ingredients 15 Minutes, Caty and Je; and Pratico Publishing, which publishes books on food, gardening, home and decor.
