Sarah Thompson is making a move within WPP from Mindshare to Theo.
GroupM has confirmed that Thompson, who has handled chief strategy officer duties at Mindshare since 2018, will be taking over similar duties at Theo, a dedicated agency established by WPP last year to handle creative and media for Rogers.
Theo was established with talent from across GroupM, but primarily Mindshare – though it has also looked outside of its network in order to staff up since last summer.
Thompson’s move to focus on Theo comes after a similar executive move on the agency’s creative side. Late last year, Angus Tucker stepped down from his post as chief creative officer at John St. – one of the other main agencies WPP pulled from – to work solely with Theo.
GroupM has yet to confirm who is taking over Thompson’s previous duties at Mindshare. The agency is still in the midst of a search for a permanent replacement for former CEO Devon MacDonald.
