WARC has released its annual Media 100 ranking of global media agencies, and a pair of Omnicom shops find themselves as the highest-ranked among their Canadian peers.
WARC’s Media 100 uses a proprietary methodology to rank media agencies, networks, holding companies and their clients based on award performance over the previous year.
Touche! ranked 12th on this year’s ranking, followed closely by sister agency PHD Toronto in 17th. Though it repeated as the top-ranked Canadian agency from last year’s list, its position fell from sixth. PHD, meanwhile, is up from 28th last year.
The pair helped the global PHD network rank second globally among agency networks, behind WPP’s EssenceMediacom and ahead of IPG Mediabrands. On the holding company rankings, parent Omnicom was also in second behind WPP and ahead of IPG.
Other Canadian agencies on the rankings include the local outpost for Mediabrands’ Initiative at 42, with UM close behind at 46.
Overall, EssenceMediacom New York was ranked first, followed by Havas Dubai, PHD Costa Rica, Wavemaker India and EsseneceMediacom Singapore.
On the list of top-performing advertisers, a pair of Touche! clients were the only Canadian companies to make the list: BRP ranked 26th, with Premier Tech (which makes Wilson Pest Control products) at 43rd. The ranking was topped by Unilever (a PHD client in Canada), followed by Mondelez and AB InBev.
