Alex Panousis will soon be stepping away from her post as CEO and chair of Dentsu Media Canada.
A spokesperson for Dentsu Canada confirmed Panousis’ pending departure to Media in Canada, saying she has agreed “to amicably move on” from the company as it moves to the “next chapter of [its] transformation.”
Dentsu began a transformation plan in 2019 to simplify its business, integrate its growth solutions and transform its media offering to be more modern and progressive.
“We want to thank Alex for her hard work and role in leading the Media Service Line through the last two years of change,” the spokesperson said. “We appreciate her strong leadership, vision and hard work navigating this complex time in our industry and the world at large.”
Panousis was hired as CEO of Dentsu agency Carat Canada in early 2020 and was elevated to the role of CEO and chair of Dentsu Media Canada later that year.
“I think the people at Dentsu Media are some of the smartest I have ever worked with, and the agency is filled with the most incredible clients,” Panousis tells MiC. “I trust they will continue to elevate the role of media in Canada. I will always look back on my time at Dentsu with fondness and respect.”
Friday will be Panousis’ last day with Dentsu. The agency would not comment on who would be taking on Panousis’ duties at this time.
It has been a busy year for Dentsu Media on the personnel front, especially in cross-agency roles, bringing new leaders into its c-suite, VP and senior ranks, while also promoting others. The agency has also launched new service offerings and picked up new business, including the global Manulife account.
